Build TOWER BRIDGE!

One of the most famous bridges in the world is now over 125 years old.

Built in 1893 and designed to blend in with its next door neighbour, The Tower Of London this iconic lifting bridge that allows tall ships to pass from the wider Thames and berth in central London. Sadly this is about as far as high ships can go westward up the Thames because the many bridges beyond Tower Bridge are lower and narrower to navigate.

For many decades this part of the city was known as The Pool Of London and whilst many of the warehouses are still there, having been converted into shops and houses, the big ships and the docks have all gone. But at one time this stretch of water under the shadow of Tower Bridge was the centre of the British Empire.

Nowadays, Tower Bridge only opens about 800 times a year but there is always a good chance of watching the bridge lift.

Your challenge today is to build TOWER BRIDGE out of LEGO.

Can your model lift up to let ships pass underneath?
