If you have been to an amusement park or fairground you will have probably seen a Ferris Wheel. This is a large circular structure like a large bicycle wheel with seats around it. People sit in the seats and the wheel slowly turns. This gives people panoramic views of the park.

It's called a Ferris Wheel because the first wheel of this kind was build in Chicago nearly 130 years ago by a man called George Ferris Junior.

One of the most popular wheels like this stands on the South bank of the Thames in London. It is called 'The London Eye'. The highest Ferris Wheel in the world is called The High Roller in Las Vegas, USA.
