School Aims

With your support the Staff and Governors aim to :-

1. Create a happy and safe environment which the children will find attractive, stimulating and conducive to their well-being and learning.

2. Help children to learn that respect, kindness, good manners, tolerance and consideration for others are very important qualities.

3. Help children to use spoken and written language to communicate clearly and accurately, and to develop handwriting skills.

4. Teach children to read fluently and with understanding and to encourage and enjoyment of reading.

5. Develop a knowledge and understanding of basic mathematical skills and concepts appropriate to the demands of everyday life.

6. Encourage scientific curiosity and take part in studies particularly through the local environment and to teach respect for plants and animal life.

7. Teach skills in ICT and other creative arts.

8. Teach the children moral values based on Christian principles.

9. Help children to gain knowledge of their locality and also an awareness of time and lands beyond their immediate experience.

10. Encourage an appreciation and enjoyment of music through singing, playing, listening and moving.

11. Provide for the development of physical activities including drama, movement and mime and to teach basic recreational games and skills.

12. Establish a responsible and caring community within which all those concerned with the children's development can work together to achieve these aims.

We have high expectations of our children.   The years the children spend here should be happy, safe and stimulating. The work of each class is organised to take account of our aims.   Careful records provide information for each teacher so that the essential element of continuity of learning between classes and schools is maintained.
